Below is a copy of the agenda items that matched the recording linked to
the right. The recording starts with item C. 4. The .wmv file may take a
while to load on slower internet connections. C. Old business | At the May 5, 2008 Elroy Lions Club meeting Lion John Fritz, a member who is blind, demonstrated the latest advances in text reading equipment. The software, which costs $1600 was installed in a $400 Nokia phone. The user feels for the center of a sheet of paper, raises the phone 10-12 inches above it and takes a picture. The software converts the text from the paper to voice and can be played for the user to hear. For purpose of the demonstration Lion John connected the phone to speakers so the club members could hear. He demonstrated with an instruction sheet and also with our written meeting agenda. Unfortunately we only recorded the last 14 seconds of the agenda reading. If you would like to see and hear it click here. |
