J A Fay & Egan Lightning 500 Varity Saw 1

This is a photo of the saw where it sat outside in the Louisiana weather for many years. The green cast is not paint but algae growing on the rust.

Note the table tilt lead screw. It is almost rusted completely  in to. Also the pitting on the hand wheel handle.

The original motor. It along with every other moving part was frozen up.
This is a shot of the underside of the table showing the  drive pulley, belts, and belt guard

The saw going back together after many hours of electrolytic rust removal, wire brushing, priming and painting. I had to replace the table tilt lead screw, arbor drive sheave, table raise-lower miter gears, table raise lower shaft, arbor bearings, motor mount pivot shaft, motor sheave, hand wheel handles, raise-lower gib retainers, and many bolts.

Front view. The compartment to the right of the raise-lower hand wheel is for the motor contactor.
