LELAA Mission Statement
The
organization will promote the education, and provide certification to water and
wastewater laboratory analysts to ensure the generation of precise and accurate
data for the protection and preservation of our water resources.
To achieve this goal we do the following:
- Have developed a Voluntary
Wastewater Laboratory Analyst certification program with the assistance of
the Louisiana Department Health and
Hospitals (DHH) and Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Four
levels of certification are available for those persons with the
appropriate amounts of experience and education. Certificates are awarded
to those persons who demonstrate their knowledge by passing an exam. These
exams will be given twice a year in different locations around the state.

Certification Program, please contact Steve Hoss
- Have developed a wastewater
laboratory mentor program. We have compiled a listing of committee members
that are willing to share their knowledge and experience with a variety of
laboratory equipment and analyses. To get a copy of this list please
contact George Stelly.
- Have established better
communication between laboratory personnel and regulatory agencies, such
as Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
- Have meetings on a regular
schedule.. Each meeting includes a program of interest to the both water
and wastewater lab analyst.
