Brohman MI
Tony Earl Harkins Sr along with his father Morton and his brothers Charles, Glen owned a lumberyard in Indiana. In the early 1900's, they traded it for the Brohman property, a total of 800 acres for the purpose of farming. The land was not suitable for farming. By Morton's death in 1953, LB, Leon, Tony Jr, and Mort purchased the land from Charles, Mabel, Tony Sr, and Glen. Two cabins served as residences for several decades until Leon and Tony built new cabins in Bub Lake on the northwest corner of the 800 acres in 1958, along with a dam across what was then known as Harkins Creek. This was to provide another lake for a planned recreational area. In the early 1970's the land was sold to an outside concern and has since been subdivided.
Above see the area just west of Brohman Michigan that is the subject of the above information.
