The Remnant
Bookstore
in the business of books for more than 25 years
Taken from the preface by the author: The chapters which follow were written over the course of thirty years, beginning in 1973 with articles published by the author as Big Rock Papers. Included are others which appeared later in the pages of the Catholic traditionalist paper The Remnant. As the title of the first chapter implies, they deal with some special aspects of the Passion of the Church which began with the Renaissance and is now accelerating to the final immolation in the reign of the Antichrist. Temptations to update or otherwise throw the light of hindsight on the original texts have been valiantly resisted. You will have to judge for yourself how much progress has been made so far along the uphill road to Calvary.

The Month of November - Dedicated to the Poor Souls Our 'picks' of the month are:
Jesus taught us about it, and for centuries the Church has faithfully
defined and defended it. Protestants deny it even exists, while many
Catholics fundamentally misunderstand it. It is Purgatory: that place of
purifying penance where souls saved by Christ are made perfect and
acceptable to spend life eternal in heaven. In The Biblical Basis for
Purgatory, author and apologist John Salza (Why Catholics Cannot Be Masons)
offers the definitive scriptural explanation of this distinctively Catholic
doctrine. Building on the teachings of Christ and St. Paul, he shows how the
existence of a place of temporal punishment after death is not only a
logical extension of what we know about the reality of sin and God's
justice, but is also a supreme expression of God's love and mercy. Although
Purgatory is a place of mercy, its pains are real, and they are severe. This
book does more than defend and explain Purgatory it provides a solid plan,
drawn from the Church s perennial wisdom for conquering our sins by God s
grace, while still on earth. This beautifully illustrated book reads like a novel but is an historical part of the French Revolution that is often left out of the history books. A must read! The aim of this modest book is to commemorate the visit of the Successor of St. Peter to the Vendee, where the people remained faithful to the Vicar of Christ and attached to their parishes and their priests, in spite of the cruelty of persecution to which they were subjected during the French Revolution. There is no more noble or inspiring story in the entire history of the Church than that of the heroic struggle of the people of the Vendee to defend their altars and their King. - Michael Davies
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the central act of Catholic worship. Therefore, it should be well understood and appreciated by all the faithful. Yet it has always seemed a formidable task to explain it, especially to children, because there is so much involved language, ritual, action, symbolism, vestments, and everything else that goes to make the Traditional Latin Mass a Heaven-inspired ceremony. Happily, Pro Multis Media has recently discovered a wonderful little book on the subject by Fr. William R. Kelly. Writing in the 1920s, Fr. Kelly possessed a gift for approaching the mind and heart of the child that allowed him to present the sublime mysteries of the Mass in a most appealing way. With simple language and compelling stories, his booklet simplified all necessary explanations and made the Holy Sacrifice better known and better loved by Catholic children.
