A 4-1000A Amplifier
(designed and built by W7AX)

A full
view of the inside of the chassis. Note the RF deck at the top and the power supply at the
bottom. The amplifier was built in a commercial cabinet acquired at a swap meet. 95%
of the parts were also from swap meets or the "junk box". Don't think an
amplifier of this type is too difficult for you to construct. Just keep your eyes peeled
and ask a seasoned ham what to look for.
The
piece of wood you see in this photo was used to support the weight of the power
transformer while the amplifier was shipped on its side. You can see the blower at
the right, the control relays along the left side and a variable filament voltage
power supply at the lower right corner.
A closer
view of the RF deck. The tuned input is at the right, you can see the coil adjustment
screws just in front of the variable capacitor.
