Welcome to the Augustana District

The Augustana District is a fellowship of Lutheran congregations in Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC).  The District is currently in its formative stage.   As a District, Augustana is committed to two things:  classic and confessional Lutheran theology, and service to congregations.   If you or your church are reconsidering your denominational affiliation, we invite you to learn about Augustana and join us.

Out of the Chute! 

The Initial Organizational Meeting of the Augustana District was held Saturday, November 7, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota.  With 40 people present, the gathering authorized itself, by resolution, to exist as a voting assembly during the process of forming the new District.  It also elected Julie Smith to preside at this and subsequent meetings of the formation assembly.

Two Task Forces Formed

In its initial organizational Assembly, the Augustana District moved forward with the formation of two short-term Task Forces – one to write a theological statement, and the other to create a conceptual design for structure and governance. The groups are expected to complete their work before the next meeting of the Assembly, which is scheduled for January 9.  Both Task Forces invite input, opinion, and perspective from others.

Augustana District Exists to Help Congregations

Financial Contributions

The Augustana District will gladly accept donations.  Because Augustana is not yet an LCMC district, it is not covered by LCMC’s 501c3 tax deductible status.  You may write checks directly to the Augustana District.  However, to ensure tax deductibility, you may wish to write your check out to “Faith Lutheran Church”, with a clearly-marked memo notation “for Augustana District.”  We appreciate Faith Lutheran’s willingness to accept and channel funds in this temporary way to Augustana.
