A District of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC)

Dear Lutheran Brothers and Sisters,

A new body of Lutheran churches is being formed – the Augustana District.  It will be a non-geographic District in LCMC (Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ).  It will be a place to belong, to join in mission, to experience pastoral and collegial support, and to find help and support for congregations doing ministry.

The Augustana District is being born because “the middle” of Lutheranism in North America has vanished, and there are many, many churches and pastors wondering what options they have.  If you are among them, we invite you to read the attachment regarding the formation of the Augustana District, which states our theological commitments and the five main objectives this body will have.  We believe many traditional, rank and file congregations will find the Augustana District to be a body that feels “just right” – biblical, confessional, and thoroughly Lutheran.   We hope you will see the importance of sharing this information with the lay leadership of the congregation you serve.

Then, if you wish, respond via email to AugustanaDistrict@centurytel.net.   Let us know that you and your church wish to be added to our mailing list, and be kept informed of the exciting and faithful developments as we head toward a Constituting Convention in June 2010 with our Charter Churches.  We will be glad to answer any questions to the best of our ability.
