Subject: Remember to KISS It

Dear Ones,

Last week, I had lunch with a local elementary school principal and assistant principal. One remarked how complicated her life was just then readying everything for the coming school year. She said, "You know, I must remember to just KISS it." I knew exactly what she meant.

Early in my military career, I was told to apply the "KISS Principle" to plans I was developing and/or to instruction I was giving. The acronym KISS stood for "Keep It Simple, Stupid". Throughout my life, I tried to follow that axiom. I believe that in daily living one should, whenever possible, keep things as simple as one can. Albert Einstein was once quoted as saying, "Everything should be made as simple as possible.... but not simpler."

Life, to most of us, always seems a bit complicated. You don't have to travel far to hear folks pining for the "good old days" when life was simpler. Man seems to be continually looking for ways to simplify life and understand life's true purpose.

I read someplace that several men of stature were asked to explain life's purpose in as simple terms as possible. Two of them expounded at length in answer to the question. The third man said simply and profoundly, "My purpose in life is to get to heaven and take as many folks, as possible, with me."

In looking for the true meaning of life, one often looks for what one calls, "simple truths". The "simple truth" is: One must only be true to oneself and God.

Have a blessed day and may all your Saturdays be special.

Don
