Subject: Our Little Boy
Dear Ones,
It's Saturday.... the day we all
take another marble out of our jar.
Also, it's "Homecoming"
for our son, Christian, who has been away in school for the past three months.
His wife, Melanie, and his 3 year-old stepdaughter, Madison, will get to see
him first, but his mother and I look forward to seeing "our little
boy" within a brief period of time.
Christian is now a 32 year-old,
fully mature, individual, but in the hearts of "mom and dad", he
will always be "our little boy".
We were married almost 13 years
before the good Lord blessed us with him.... and since the day he was born, he
has been the pride, joy and love of our lives.
Yesterday, Christian made us proud
once again. He graduated as "Distinguished Graduate" in his class by
tying for first place for Academic Honors. Also, he won the Physical
Conditioning/Training Award and was selected by his classmates to receive
the Outstanding Leadership Award-- a real honor to be selected by one's peers.
When he called us with the news of
his latest achievements, we told "our little boy" that we
were very proud of him and loved him very much.
While many folks might think us a
bit crazy for considering our 32 year-old son as "our little boy",
consider this little anecdote. A couple of years ago, I was to honor on
Memorial Day a sailor who was lost at sea in Word War II. I called his 93
year-old sister to invite her to attend the ceremony. I asked her if she still
drove her car. She told me that she no longer drove herself, but that her
"little boy" would drive her to the ceremony. I replied, "Your
little boy... how old is he?" Without a moment's hesitation, she
answered, "Oh, he's 72 now".
Have a great Saturday and hug your
"little boys and girls". You can never love them too much.
Blessings!!
Don
