Amazing Grace
Dear
Ones,
Leavon and I have a friend who is a piano teacher. She always invites us to her piano recital each year.... and we dutifully go. This year she had 38 students of all ages and persuasion. We know some of the kids, many of their parents and MOST of their grandparents.
Her students perform in order of their talents and abilities..... saving her best students for last. I must admit the first hour of the two-hour program is much akin to a Chinese torture chamber, but in the end one is rewarded by her students of several years who play masterfully.
Four years ago we were first entertained by one of her very special "talents".... an eight-year-old girl who has been blind since birth. Shandy not only plays the piano or keyboard beautifully, she, also, sings with a powerful voice. Her trademark songs are religious and/or patriotic in nature.
As usual, Shandy was there again last evening.... closing out the program by playing and singing a medley of her favorite songs. I was struck by the thought of how God has blessed this young lady on the one hand with blindness, but also with her unique musical abilities.
God used Shandy again last evening to touch the hearts of those in attendance as she sang the John Newton song, Amazing Grace. The words she sang still echo in my ears..... "Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see."
It is my prayer that we will all see God's "Amazing Grace" in our daily walk in His light and love.
Have a GREAT Saturday and may your Memorial Day weekend be special.
