I Was Just Thinking
Dear Ones,
I was
just thinking about the crazy weather we seem to be having these days. Am I
wrong or does the weather world appear to be turned upside down? This past week,
I was reveling in the notion that old Phil the groundhog had it all wrong this
year. (They say he saw his shadow and we would be having six more weeks of
winter.) On Thursday, 15 February, I cut my grass for the first time this year
as the temperature hovered around 80 degrees. As I was mowing in a short-sleeve
shirt, I was encouraged at the signs of Spring-- purple martins moving into
their seasonal adobe, robins prancing around in search of worms, blossoms in
full array on the pear trees, and a warm sun beating down upon my face. Well,
old Phil reared his ugly head again this morning to find the temperature in the
40's and me in a sweatshirt. Tonight, it's supposed to be near freezing. One
thing I do know-- it sure was nice while it lasted and, besides, as I look out
upon my lawn through frosted windowpanes.... it sure looks better than it did
before last Thursday. Hope "springs" eternal in the old saying--
"If
Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?"
Have
a nice day!!
