Subject: Life’s Simple Pleasures
Dear Ones,
Too
often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures....
I
try to take a walk early every morning. I usually set my wrist stopwatch to see
if I'm ahead or behind of the time I achieved the day before. Recently as I was
approaching our driveway upon completing my walk, I thought to myself: "In
another 20 seconds, I will be through with my walk for today". Then I
realized that the true reason for my daily walk should be just that-- the walk,
itself. It shouldn't be about how fast I put one foot ahead of the other or the
cardiovascular exercise I get, but should focus on the fact that God
through His grace has given me the physical ability to walk when others
have had that ability taken from them. With a heart full of gratitude and
without pause, I thanked God for one the simple pleasures of life we take for
granted... walking.
Now,
as I proceed along my merry walk, I see things more clearly than I did
before.... the colorful pre-dawn sky, the beautiful sunrise, the trees, the
fields of grain, the sight and sound of song birds, and rabbits, both young and
old, hopping along. Now, as I near my driveway each day, my thoughts are:
"I only have a few more seconds to enjoy my morning walk today. Thank you
God for another beautiful day.... and thank you for allowing me to walk in your
light and love".
Have
a GREAT day!!
