Subject: Trust in the Lord
Dear Ones,
As some of you
will remember, I wrote a little story last August entitled “My Favorite
Teacher”.
In the story,
I related to you that two of Leavon’s former elementary school students
tracked her down via the Internet some thirty years after she taught them in
second and third grade. They just wanted to tell her that she was one of their
"favorite teachers" and thank her for what she taught them along
life’s way.
Earlier this week, Troy, one of these two former students
made our day when he sent the following story. I asked his permission to share
it with you, which he granted.
“From The Mouths of Babes
I had to share this. My bride, Ann, recently went to pick up
our three-year-old daughter, Grace Ann, from her pre-school.
The school's director asked Ann to see a bulletin board in the hall.
On this were the answers the children gave to a question put to them:
"What would you do if you were out in a boat and it was dark and rainy and
the wind was blowing and the waves were really high?"
As you might expect, most of the answers were along the
lines of, "I'd be scared." "I'd
cry." "I'd want my
mom." And then there was
little Grace Ann's response, "Trust In The Lord, You Silly Goose!"
As a parent, I always look for those "teachable
moments", the times when I can impart my great wisdom on my children, when
I can share with them some fact that I feel they need to know, recall some
experience that will aid them in their lives. I guess I forget how much I can
learn from them. There are volumes written, bookstore sections devoted entirely
to dealing with life's pressures and stresses.
I learned all I need to from my baby girl: Trust In The Lord, You Silly
Goose!”
Troy,
I think Mrs. Ladner has now been replaced in your life as your “favorite
teacher”, as well she should be. No one else in the world could have taught
this lesson any better than little, “amazing” Grace Ann. And, don’t you
ever forget it, “You Silly Goose!".
Have a GREAT Saturday and may all your Saturdays be special.
