Subject: Better Than Dirt

Dear Ones,

I imagine that most everyone has heard the expression that someone is "older than dirt", or something is "cheaper than dirt". Well, my older sister has, for years now, put her own twist to those colloquialisms. She changed the "older" and "cheaper" to "better" and uses the expression as a term of endearment. Her favorite saying is, "I love someone, or something, "better than dirt".

The only problem is, my sis often puts a qualifier behind the expression when she uses it. For example, when I once made a disparaging remark about her little dog, "Pretty", getting hair on the furniture in her house, she let me know exactly how she felt. She exclaimed, "Hey, I love you 'better than dirt', but you better not talk about my dog like that! If you do, you can just leave right now!"

Later, when driving home, Leavon said to me, "Well, I guess you now know how your sister feels about her little dog.... and you!" I chuckled and told Leavon I wasn't worried about my sister loving her dog more than me.... just as long as she loved me "better than dirt". "Besides", I said, reaching for a little comedic twist of my own, "blood is always thicker than dog hair."

May you have a special day today and may you find someone to love you "better than dirt".

Blessings!!

Don
