The Hole Story  February 2006

General Manager's Report
Rich Novak

We are continuing the FISH food drive after the holidays and into the New Year. The Ladies point out that hunger continues throughout the year and we all know the local food banks need our support. If you can donate, they would appreciate it!

STEAK NIGHT returns Friday, February 17th, 600 PM, bring the gang and a steak, seafood or something for the BBQ.  We provide the potato, salad and bread for $5.00 IF YOU SIGN UP BY WEDNESDAY. The price goes up to $8 for late-comers.  Sign up at the Clubhouse.

AND, don't forget to sign up for CHOWDER NIGHT on Friday, February 10th, 6:00 PM. Only $6 for all you can eat clam THE BEST clam chowder with salad, rolls and dessert included.

Thanks to all who have contributed thus to the employee holiday fund. The fund total was $1,200 and was split evenly among all employees.

On a final note, you may have heard a rumor that I will be leaving the club. Well, yes that's true (but not quite yet!)  My wife, Mary, recently accepted a teaching position in the Phoenix, Arizona area to begin this coming fall. We have actually been researching the location for awhile and she decided now was as good a time as ever for the move. I will be assisting the president and board in reviewing future options for the club, whatever that may be, to insure a successful future. It has been a pleasure to work with all of you these many years and I expect my remaining time to be as professional and as fun as it has been up to this point. I will keep you updated on what's happening.

GREEN COMMITTEE UPDATE FROM GREEN CHAIR DOUGH MYHRE

Call for Volunteers - the Green Committee desires to establish volunteer work groups willing to do cleanup, enhancement and monthly maintenance of our landscape areas. First priorities are the landscape beds around the Club House, Driving Range and Entry Gate. Beautification is our goal! Coordinators of this effort are:

Todd Drumm  253-549-7576 or todddrumm@aol.com
Dale Murray  253-549-2654

Please call them to volunteer your time and ideas. Questions or comments, contact Doug Myhre, 253-265-6318; doug.myhre@earthlink.net.

Entrance Driveway Tree Planting - the idea to plant flowering trees along the entry drive from the gate to the creek bridge has been discussed for some time. We would like to accomplish this in March or April 2006 with tree contributions in memory of special friends such as Hal Maloney. About twelve trees (about $50 each) is the goal. If you would like to contribute to this effort, contact Doug Myhre, Todd Lupkes or Rich Novak.

Thanks to the Green Department staff for their recent extra effort of cleaning-up / mowing all along the entry driveway. Looking good!
