Once we got checked in we walked over to a large downtown mall and had lunch and looked around before going to the Koala Sanctuary.
In looking around and later riding the bus out to the park, I was amazed to see how many Baptist Churches there seem to be. I had expected Australia to be primarily Anglican and it probably is, but we easily counted 3-4 Baptist Churches, more than any other denomination we saw.
As to the Park, look at the pictures. There are many strange things about the world south of the equator: the constellations are not the same we see in the north, water goes down drains in the opposite direction. But the strangest stuff seems to involve the animals. Koalas, wombats, kangaroos are all so totally unlike anything found elsewhere on the earth.
It was a nice couple of hours and gave us the chance to star adjusting to the major change in time zones. Tomorrow we'll spend some more time looking around during the day before attending the opening ceremonies and dinner for Gwenn and Lynn's convention.
