Day 1: The morning was spent reviewing the financial condition of Quota International. Beatriz Scoop, Treasurer outlined our condition so clearly that I was even able to understand. We are on solid footing because of the voluntary contribution program initiated during the past 2 years that has given Quotarians willing to pay for them additional services (such as the Friends of Quota). Those contributions have increased over 400%! The task force report concluded there is no compelling economic incentive at this time to consider a move of our International headquarters from Washington, DC.
During the bylaws session an amendment to allow proxy voting on bylaws was defeated. A motion charging the board with forming a task force to consider the economic impact of dues on the diverse international membership received the majority of the groups attention.
Throughout the convention we are recognizing the club excellence award winners in service, fundraising,and member retention.
South Area members met for lunch and discussed next spring's meeting in Charleston, South Carolina. Start planning now to come along with me.
Day2 was spent in small group seminars. We had a great challenge for team work from Lynne Carroon, President-Elect. Being a college coach and athletic administrator she had great command of the whistle and looked quite natural in her warmups and tennis shoes. In the photo album you can see pictures of Governor Lynn participating in the role playing about committees.
The tribute to volunteers of the year went up on display here today. It also is now available on the web page. So go www.wesharefoundation.org to see the picture of Virginia Calhoun and our recognition of her legacy of service.
I had lunch today with Carol Hartley the immediate past President of the Gladstone, Queensland ,Australia club our fellowship club. We shared the structure of our clubs and our common concerns as well as our service. I look forward to sharing with the in the future our newsletters and staying in touch with email. I think there may be opportunity in the future to participate with them in their service here on the other side of the world. Enough for now , I am off to the District 21 dinner where no one has an accent and they all speak the same English.
