Installation of President Lynne Caroon was a festive occassion. The theme for this year will be "Quota Spirit-Pass it on". There was plenty of Quota spirit in the room tonight. The tables were decorated with US and Austalian flags around 2 relay batons emphasizing the theme and playing on the role of our Coach Caroon. Lynne honored her mother with a 40 year Quota pin. She asked all clubs to participate in a program or initiative with our local Cancer Society this year as she has lost both her father and husband at early ages to cancer. ( We already had that one covered with our successful Relay for Life participation.) Election Results and other Board Members Installed tonight: President Elect- Beatriz Doran-Scoop, Curacao Treasurer- Mary Cotter, Alaska South Area Director- Carolyn Rice, New South Wales, Australia East Area Director- Tina Toohey, Springfield, Mass. Central Area Director- Susan Schneberger, Flint, Michigan previous board members, South Area Director- Jomel Lamb, North Carolina West Area Director- Nicol Lea, Cupertino , California Canada Area Director- Judy Buzowetshky, Saskatchewan, Canada
A new incentive program is being started to reward sponsors of new members or new clubs. These sponsors will receive discounts on either dues or convention registration for their efforts to spread the spirit of Quota.
The club to club service report today assures us of its success and need for all clubs to participate. The New Delhi Quota Home has now purchased land to build a primary school for the children of women they are serving. This will open up space in the home for the literacy and job training programs already in place for the women. Only $150 is needed annually for the schooling of a child , including cost of lunch and uniforms.
This convention was an opportunity for me to see first hand the scope of our International organization. Having attended convention at home I thought I had a pretty good appreciation. But having seen at a closer level and learning more about their countries and life style I see our International presence in a new way. It is exciting to be a Quotarian. It is certainly worth sharing with others and asking them to join us. I am honored to be a part.
