Dear Jack,
Thank you for letter received out here this morning.
And thank you for your interest in the furthering of the work of intercession.
Below and attached you will find our regular letter of introduction to this e-mail ministry – no web site.
You may use it as it stands or cut and add as you find appropriate.
To be linked to the work, a quick request sent to the network HQ is sufficient.
Every blessing,
Lars W.
An introduction to Intercessors Network
Intercessors Network is a set of freely interacting prayer units in 120 nations, (Summer, 2007).
Intercessors Network has marked out and taken on intercession for men in power position, for kings and rulers, as its first priority and sole ground for existence. 1 Tim 2.1-4.
Intercessors Network does not hold any special political colour or position. Yet, caring for the downtrodden becomes a habit as an intercessor. The Network is eagerly praying for holiness to be established through recognition of the lordship of Jesus Christ.Intercession is ability to react and act. Intercession is ability to react the right way to the right things. Intercession is ability to watchfully wait in the presence of the Lord and act according to his revealed will.
Rapid action in prayer is so often needed at many levels of human experience. Computer technology allows us to work closely together and enhances the possibilities of mobilising much prayer in short time.
E-mail communications provides foundation for solid and immediate prayer back up. E-mail communication allows us to provide precisely defined and focused prayer cover.Intercessors Network provides an Urgent Prayer Target e-mail list, to be used for instant prayer mobilisation in regards to current issues related to the common goal of the Network.
The major focus of this list is on the prophetic dimension, the cities, the nations, the men in power; the areas of life in your community where any wind of change must begin to blow.A ”Short Notes”-list is also available. Postings are sent somewhat irregularly and contain 5 - 7 prayer items. It also contains an overview of what is sent to the other lists - you can watch what is going on and order the article you are interested in.
A division within the Network covering Jewish issues is to be accessed and subscribed to by referring to ”On the Walls of Jerusalem”. Issues pertaining to Middle Eastern affairs, Jews in the diaspora and Messianic Jews will be focused under this heading.
Intercessors are indeed welcome to partake in the labour for change.
Intercessors are certainly welcome to send reports on current issues and definitions of prayer targets.
By subscribing to the lists, you are not obliged to respond to everything that is sent out from the Network. You may and must pick and choose according to interest and the prompting of the Holy Spirit.Send us a note, if you want to be linked to our e-mail lists!
No need to re-confirm if you are linked to our lists already.Rich blessings,
Lars Widerberg

SHORT NOTES-mailing # 541
September 26, 2007Items and issues to watch carefully in prayer and to ponder as to
their implications in relation to the fellowship and increase in Christ. No erudition, no purity of diction, no width of mental outlook, no flowers of eloquence, no grace of person can atone for lack of fire. Prayer ascends by fire. Flame gives prayer access as well as wings, acceptance as well as energy. There is no incense without fire; no prayer without flame.

INDIA: FALSE CHARGES PLAGUE CHRISTIAN WORKERSPastor and his sister cleared of rape, abortion accusations; such ordeals all too common. In a case typical of false accusations that Hindu extremists file against Christian workers, a pastor and his sister have been cleared of charges of rape and abortion in Chhattisgarh state. The Evangelical Fellowship of India announced that pastor Simon Tandi, a convert from Hinduism, and his sister Sanjeela Begum were acquitted by a court in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on September 12.
Tandi was facing charges of raping and forcing a girl to terminate the resultant pregnancy after she filed a complaint against him – prompted by a Hindu extremist group – in June 2005. His sister Begum was accused of abetting the crime. Tandi had spent six months in jail, and his sister four months, before they were released on bail prior to the acquittal.
The court reportedly found discrepancies in the statement of the complainant and a lack of evidence against the accused. Christian rights activists say facing false police complaints is common for Christian workers in several parts of the country.

INDIA: PERSECUTION CALLED WORSE THAN U.S. REPORT INDICATES
State Department lauds federal government but notes criticisms of officials at all levels. The U.S. Department of State’s 2007 Report on International Religious Freedom gives India’s federal government high marks for respecting religious freedom, but Christian leaders said this does not mean that persecution in the country is less than alarming.
The incidence of anti-Christian violence is much higher than available statistics indicate, the leaders said, as most cases are not reported to the police and are ignored by the media. Released last Friday (September 14), the report covering the period from July 1, 2006, to June 30 says the government of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) “generally respected” religious freedom in practice.
It asserts, however, that there were “organized societal attacks against minority religious groups, particularly in states ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party,” India’s most influential Hindu nationalistic party. The report also notes that human rights activists criticized the UPA for alleged “indifference and inaction” in the face of persecution by state and local officials and private citizens.

SOUTH AFRICA, KWA ZULU NATAL: SEVERAL MEN WANTS TO BE KINGKing Goodwill Zwelithini, who is facing a challenge from several of the amakhosi – of tribal royal decent – in the province who also want to be declared kings, recently received political and traditional leadership backing as the only king in KwaZulu-Natal.
Acting Premier Zweli Mkhize, in his capacity as the leader of the provincial government, and Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the chairperson of traditional leaders in KwaZulu-Natal, gave him their backing.
Mkhize said that the people of the province would not wake up some day to find that there was more than one king in the province.
There were initially 11 amakhosi in the province who had lodged claims with the Nhlapo Commission to be declared kings with the same status as the monarch.

Church Leaders Imprisoned, Believers Beaten in Western Ethiopia
WESTERN ETHIOPIA; CHURCH LEADERS IMPRISONED, BELIEVERS BEATENThe Voice of the Martyrs sources have reported several incidents of persecution in recent weeks in the state of Benishangul, where Christians live under intense pressure from Muslim militants.
On September 11, an underground church leader, Jemmal Sembeto (35), was imprisoned and several other believers were beaten and tortured in an attempt to force them to expose other church leaders involved in underground ministry. On September 16, evangelist Mulu Tilahun (22) was also imprisoned.VOMC sources also reported that a Christian named Brother Ali was recently severely beaten in his home along with his children. In another incident, a believer named Sister Ashe was beaten and her hand was broken. She fled to another town in fear for her life. Several local believers have also reportedly fled to other areas for their own safety. Others have been imprisoned by the local government officials without charge.
Pray that Jemmal, Mulu and other imprisoned believers and their families will be comforted by God’s Word (Psalm 119:49-56).Pray that, like Paul, these imprisonments will result in the advancement of God’s kingdom (Philippians 1:12-14).
Pray that Christians facing violence and pressure from militants will not give in to fear but trust God.

NIGERIA: YOUNG GIRL UNDER SEVERE PRESSURE TO RENOUNCE HER FAITHWe would be grateful for your prayers for a situation unfolding in Nigeria concerning the safety of a young female Christian convert. Farida, age 15, converted to Christianity in December 2006 from a strong Muslim family. At the time she was married to a soldier who immediately divorced her. On returning to the family home her parents urged her to renounce her faith and return to Islam. When she refused she was driven from the house for several weeks. Her family later asked her to return but the pressure to reconvert remained strong. One day, shortly after this, her mother asked her to boil water hot enough to remove flesh from a chicken. Instead of using this for cooking her mother asked Farida to choose between her faith or being burnt with the water. When Farida chose her faith her mother threw the water onto her causing injury to her upper torso and third degree burns to her arm.Since this time she has been in hiding, sheltered by contacts within the church. She remains under great pressure and has, in the last week been tracked down by people whose motivations are suspicious. On top of all this, at the time of her attack, Farida was pregnant and has today given birth to a baby girl.Give thanks for the safe delivery of her daughter, and please pray for Farida that:
She would know God’s peace and assurance at this time
She and her baby would both be protected from harm (emotionally, physically and spiritually)
She would remain firm in her faith despite all the pressure and obstacles she has, and is, facing
She would know the support and love of the Christian family

THE REPUBLIC OF YEMENThe reputed home of the Queen of Sheba, Yemen has been at the crossroads of Africa, the Middle East and Asia for thousands of years thanks to its position on the ancient spice routes. Known to the Romans as ‘Arabia Felix’, Happy Arabia, because of its fertility and wealth, it still maintains its distinct character. The modern Republic of Yemen was born in 1990 when traditionalist North Yemen and Marxist South Yemen merged after years of border wars and skirmishes. Although the peace broke down in 1994, a short civil war ended in defeat for separatist southerners and the survival of the unified Yemen. As one of the poorest countries in the Arab world and in the world, Yemen is actively seeking development in order to meet the needs and aspirations of its rapidly growing population. Although it has been modernising and opening up to the world since its unification, the country still maintains much of its tribal character and old ways and tensions persist between the north and the south. There are expatriate churches for expatriate Christians that worship in a variety of languages including English and Korean. There is also a large and active Ethiopian Church. Only the Catholic Church has a few church buildings and the Anglican Church has one building. All the buildings are in Aden. Other Christians and Catholics and Anglicans in other cities have to meet in private buildings which cannot resemble a church building. The government still does not allow church buildings in the north despite this being promised to the late Pope John Paul II in 2001.
Local officials do on occasion harass Christians; however this is often motivated by seeking a bribe. Converts from Islam will almost always face strong family and societal pressure should their conversion become known and may also face possible arrest by the local authorities.Although the population is generally conservative and not supportive of violent acts, attacks by religious extremists have occurred.

From the Wycliffe Prayer Focus Bulletin, September 24-30, 2007CENTRAL CHAD, Guera region: Translation coordination for 27 languages
Pray for work being done to establish church-based translation coordination for this entire area. Praise God for the book of Genesis being printed in the Goremos* language, with the Gospel of John soon to follow. Goremos is part of this 27-language cluster**.
In five of those languages translation was started in the 1990s and six more have had translation begin recently. Church leaders and Bible translation personnel are together seeking to develop vision and strategies for the translation task they face.
*pseudonym
**A language cluster refers to languages that may be linguistically related, and/or from similar geographic regions or cultural backgrounds.SOUTHERN CHAD, Tandjile region: Local committee assesses language needs
Following a Scripture use seminar organized by the Chadian Association for Literacy and Bible translation, a local committee of people from churches and communities was formed to evaluate language development needs for people speaking 14 languages in the area.
Literacy and Bible translation have already been started in some of these languages so there is the potential for one group to help another, with technical help from Bible translation personnel. Pray that the local committee’s work will be fruitful and lead to involvement of churches and communities on a wide scale.NIGER: Manga language Scriptures on Mega Voice players
Nineteen people worked for six weeks to record Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Ruth and Esther. The next step was to pre-load MegaVoice players with these recordings. The Megavoice Microchip Audio Player is solar-powered and is compact in size. It can contain an entire book.
The players will be distributed mainly to Manga people both in the capital Niamey and in the Manga area. Some will also go to church planters in several locations in Manga territory.
Pray that these will be well-used and that many people, hearing for the first time, will be impacted by God’s Word. A half million people in Niger and Nigeria speak Manga.=======
SLINGSHOTSThe wrestling quality in importunate prayer, does not spring from physical vehemence or fleshly energy. It is not an impulse of energy, not a mere earnestness of soul; it is an inwrought force, a faculty implanted and aroused by the Holy Spirit. Virtually, it is the intercession of the Spirit of God, in us; it is, moreover, “the effectual, fervent prayer, which availeth much.”
The Divine Spirit informing every element within us, with the energy of His own striving, is the essence of the importunity which urges our praying at the mercy-seat, to continue until the fire falls and the blessing descends. This wrestling in prayer may not be boisterous nor vehement, but quiet, tenacious and urgent. Silent, it may be, when there are no visible outlets for its mighty forces.
Edward McKendree Bounds
The Necessity of PrayerDo not we rest in our day too much on the arm of flesh? Cannot the same wonders be done now as of old? Do not the eyes of the Lord still run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those who put their trust in Him? Oh, that God would give me more practical faith in Him! Where is now the Lord God of Elijah? He is waiting for Elijah to call on Him.
James Gilmour of MongoliaLove is kindled in a flame, and ardency is its life. Flame is the air which true Christian experience breathes. It feeds on fire; it can withstand anything rather than a feeble flame; but when the surrounding atmosphere is frigid or lukewarm, it dies, chilled and starved to its vitals. True prayer MUST be aflame.

The Dangers of the Gospel of Accommodation
By David WilkersonA New Gospel
Accommodate means to adapt, to make suitable and acceptable, to make convenient. A gospel of accommodation is creeping into the United States. It’s an American cultural invention to appease the lifestyle of luxury and pleasure. What the Gospel of Accommodation Does:
1. It is the accommodation of man’s love for pleasure.
2. This gospel of accommodation accommodates all man’s aversion to self-denial.
3. There is an accommodation of man’s offense to the gospel.PLEASE, tell us if you want the messages as regular e-mails,
or as an attached MS Word-file attached in an e-mail.

Prophets without burden
By Lars WiderbergProphets are sent, holding a heavenly mandate, to protect people. The prophet is sent to correct the people. The properly conducted prophetic ministry provokes those who are strong and who live securely to cover and to serve the weak.
A prophet, a real prophet is brought up and then brought forth into the arena of man’s struggle to be concerned, to be bothered. A man, even worse, a prophet who does not care about the pain of the poor and needy causes the heaviest burden to be machinated and prepared for the Father’s heart to carry.A two page article to be obtained on request.PLEASE, tell us if you want the messages as regular e-mails,
or as an attached MS Word-file attached in an e-mail.

OM SHIPSMeet the fleetOM Ships International’s fleet is currently made up of three ships; Doulos, Logos Hope and Logos II.
The ships remain in port for several weeks and open the gangways to hundreds and sometimes thousands of visitors each day. On average, one million visitors are welcomed on board every year! The floating book fairs offer 5,000 titles, providing many visitors their first-ever opportunity to purchase quality educational and Christian literature. Teams go from the ship into surrounding areas to supply aid and community care. In each port, the ship’s crew joins local churches to bring hope and show love to people whatever their circumstance, culture or background.Meet Doulos
Doulos was purchased in 1977. Since then, over 18 million visitors have been welcomed on board for tours, programmes and visits to the floating book fair. With stops in over 500 ports of call, this unique ship has visited more than 100 countries in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and many island nations.
Constructed in 1914, Doulos is recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest active ocean-going passenger ship.
The ship is owned and operated on behalf of OM Ships International by Gute Bücher für Alle e.V. (Good Books for All), a private, non-profit, charitable organisation registered in Germany.Meet Logos II
Logos II was purchased in 1988. Since then, over nine million visitors have been welcomed on board for tours, programmes and visits to the floating book fair. With stops in over 300 ports of call, this unique ship has visited 78 countries and territories, including Africa, the Americas, Europe, the Near East and many island nations.
The ship is owned by Educational Book Exhibits Ltd., a private, non-profit, charitable organisation registered in the UK. The ship is operated on behalf of OM Ships International by Gute Bücher für Alle e.V. (Good Books for All), a second private, non-profit, charitable organisation registered in Germany.Pray with us
Prayer plays a central role in OM Ships International and is a foundation for everything crew are involved in. Unite with us in asking God to move in five key areas:
Pray for sufficient crew to serve on board the ships. In particular, ask God to provide enough qualified deck and engineering officers to bring the ships from port to port.
Pray for those who visit the ships, that they will be impacted by God’s love when they step on board.
Pray that doors will open for the crew to serve people in many different countries. Ask God to bless the crew with favour in the eyes of authorities.
Pray for God’s provision in the areas of finance. OM Ships International remains dependent on the generous giving of supporters.
Pray for good relations with the local Church. Their support and partnership is vital to follow-up contacts crew make.

A SHORT NOTE ON THE MATTER OF DONATIONSDear Friends and Intercessors,
As a response to requests for information on the matter of donations, the following options may be taken into consideration.
Intercessors Network is not a registered organisation. We keep it this way for the sake of the liberty such a position provides, first of all spiritually. The position taken generates certain minor disadvantages, mainly in the realm of interaction with institutions of various categories.
Intercessors Network cannot be used as a name in relation to a bank or on a cheque simply because it is not an organisation.A smaller donation travels safe in an ordinary letter covered with prayer.
You will find our address at the end of this letter. If you want to write a cheque, use my name - Lars Widerberg - but do take note that the fee for cashing it here in Sweden is about 20 USD or, occasionally, very much more.
Our International Bank Account Number - IBAN - may perhaps simplify the operation if you want your bank to handle a transaction: SE 08 6000 0000 0002 3654 7798
BIC/Swiftaddress: HANDSESS
Name of our bank: HANDELSBANKEN
Address of our bank: Linköping City, Box 334, 58103 Linköping SWEDEN
Using this path will reduce fees to a minimum on both sides.Another route to use:
