How to Take Action for Fair Elections

In Idaho, the House State Affairs Committee and the Senate State Affairs Committee deal with statewide policy on elections.  These committees can introduce a bill for fair elections, by introducing a new bill or by introducing a bill similar to S1290, Idaho Fair Elections Act from last year.

In district 35, we need to tell our senator (Jeff Siddoway) and our representatives (JoAn Wood and Lenore Hardy Barret) that we want them to support a new Fair Elections bill like S1290, Idaho Fair Elections Act from 2006.

Even if they will not commit to supporting the bill, we must ask them to support a public hearing on the bill so that they can hear from ordinary people.

If you are in Boise in January, February or March, you can visit the legislature and tell them you want a Fair Elections Act.  This will help them to understand that they are representing you.  If we do nothing, then our elected officials will rely on other people who do not think there is a problem of money in elections. Some special interest lobbies do not want Fair Elections.  They might have to share access to lawmakers with ordinary people.

You can call, write to, and send email to JoAn Wood, Lenore Hardy Barret, and Jeff Siddoway.  If you are viewing this form on http://www.fp1.centurytel.net/lemdems, you can click on the representative and senator names to send them email.
