Angel Tree Has Begun
MMOC is once again joining efforts with Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Cornerstone Church, and the La Crosse County. Please join us in becoming a “Christmas Angel”. Here is how it works: select an “Angel” off of the MMOC Christmas Angel Tree. Place your angel and monetary gift in the envelope and drop in the box provided. The Angel Tree Committee will then take care of purchasing the gift cards for you. Your gift will be included with a specially made Christmas card, inviting the families to celebrate at our Christmas Mass. The gift cards will be delivered to the recipients a few days before Christmas. This will allow them time to purchase the exact food and gifts needed for their families. The deadline for donations is Sunday, December 13. If you know of individuals or families that could use help during this Christmas Season or at anytime during the year, please direct them to call Catholic Charities at 782.0710.

La Crosse Center Thanksgiving Dinner
Contributions of green beans (not French cut), jellied cranberries or money can be brought here to MMOC for the dinner. We will deliver them to the La Crosse Center.

The 2009 Man of the Year and Woman of the Year were named at a Patronal Feast luncheon on Sunday, 15 November.

Fr. Ed Thome has returned to La Crosse after serving for a year in Prairie du Chien.  He resides at the Diocesan Center, room C305, and his phone is 796-9048.

Thumper

One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Johnny was staring up at the large plaque that hung in the foyer of the church. The seven-year-old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the boy, and said quietly, "Good morning son." "Good morning pastor" replied the young man, focused on the plaque. "Sir, what is this?" Johnny asked. "Well son, these are all the people who have died in the service," replied the pastor. Soberly, they stood together, staring at the large plaque. Little Johnny's voice barely broke the silence when he asked quietly, "Which one sir, the 8:00 or the 10:00 service?"
