Message taken from the Devotional Emails Entitled
From My Heart To Yours

Back ] Up ] Next ]

Example 1.

And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.
Romans 16:20

Several years ago, I was going through a lot of struggling and
Satan kept putting all kinds of negative thoughts in my mind.
I had started to doubt that my life was going to change, and I
desperately needed some strong scriptures to hide away in
my heart, so that when the wrong thoughts came, I could
cast them down with one of God's promises.

I had been asking God to help me cast down wrong thoughts
and help me to think right and good things.
During my time in the word one morning, God showed me a scripture
that was extremely meaningful to me. It was Romans 16:20...

And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.

My mind was under extreme attack that particular day, and I
knew I needed to go and do something constructive, so I decided
to mow the lawn. Whenever a negative thought came into my
I would try to use the method that Jesus used with Satan to
cast him out...he spoke "It is written" and then spoke a scripture.
I kept praying for God to deliver me from this power Satan
seemed to have over my mind...
so God helped me with a visual aid.

I was walking behind the lawnmower and suddenly,
I saw a snake wriggling around in the lawn. On one of my
trips up and down the rows, I must have accidentally ran over it.
I stopped the mower and watched as it died.
I went back to my mowing and didn't think too much more about the incident.
When I finished my work, I went into the garage to take off
my old work shoes. As I reached to untie my shoe...there
was the head of the snake...right on top of the laces of my shoe.

My first thoughts was, YUCK! how awful this thing bloody thing
on my shoe...but then the scripture came back into my head.

God had showed me that the principal worked and with the
power of the word, He would indeed crush Satan under my feet.

Our job is that we must remember to use the right weapon.
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

The #1 enemy Satan uses against us is our thoughts.
If he can make us think negative, then we will start to act
depressed, discouraged and then we start to doubt the power of God.
When our thoughts stay inside us long enough to take root, it
becomes a force and we begin to speak negative words out of our mouth.

By letting our "feelings" rule our life, we make them an idol.
We begin to do just what our feelings say to do instead of
what God word tells us. We can only begin to enjoy life,
when we don't have to "feel" to believe...
Jesus said...

"If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."
Mark 9:23

"I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for
everyone who believes...
Romans 1:16

Jesus said...
"Do not be afraid; only believe."
Mark 5:36

Jesus said...
"Have Faith in God"...
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray,
believe that you receive them, and you will have them. "
"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him,
that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."

Mark 11:22,24-26

Each day the choice is ours....

Believe Satan and our feelings,
or
Believe in God's word and his promises!
