A Day To Remember.

The following devotional mailing is from Valerie...

A Prayer for America

Our eyes are overwhelmed, O LORD
from the destruction that we see.
The pain, the ruins and despair
by the hand of the enemy.

Mans towers lie in ashes
Our streets are stained with blood.
We lift our hands to You, O LORD
to comfort us with Your love.

We run to You for shelter
from the pain inside our hearts.
Revive us and restore us
let the fears in us depart.

Father please forgive our sins
help us to obey
Guide us and direct us
in all we say and do.

One nation under God we'll stand
For we lift our praise to You.
Tread down, O LORD our enemies...
In Your righteousness and truth.

Pour Your Spirit on us LORD,
For only Your love can...
Unite our hearts and minds to build
an new and peaceful land.

The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.

Proverbs 18:10

IN GOD WE TRUST !

The LORD will give strength to His people;
The LORD will bless His people with peace.

Psalm 29:11

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

Psalm 33:12

Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord
is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had
know what hour the thief would come, he would have watched
and not allowed his house to broken into. Therefore you also
be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not
expect.
Matthew 24:42-44

My heart is deeply saddened today as I reflect on the attack
on the United States, Sept. 11, 2001. As I watched the television
replay the destruction, I was reminded of the scriptures about
Jesus' forewarning of his coming back to get us all. He reminds
us in Matthew 24 that when the rapture of the church comes,
we will be eating, drinking, and marrying...much like yesterday
.

If we had only known of the horrible destruction that was about to happen...
everyone would have planned their day differently. It is a sobering
reality for us to face, but we must be prepared for death at
any time and at any age. We must unite, as a family of God, to
spread the message of the Gospel with everyone we come
in contact with. With tragedy comes an opportunity to share
our faith, our testimony, and bring hope back to a shattered
world. It is important for God's people to share those life
changing scriptures that will turn us to totally trusting in God.

Scripture tells us in Hosea 3:6...

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...

Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. God is the only hope
for the United States and for our world. The evil thing that
happened yesterday was because these people did not know
God's love or the message of salvation.

As we reflect to others our faith, let us be sure to reflect what
God's word teaches us.

Hebrews 10:30... For we know him who said,

"Vengeance is Mine, I will repay"...says the LORD.

And again, "The Lord will judge His people." It is

a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

"But I say to you who hear; Love your enemies, do good to those who hate
you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

Luke 6:27-28

God's people are not to act like the world. Hate caused this tragedy.
We must not let Satan lead us into hating someone else.
If I regard iniquity my heart, The Lord will not hear
. Psalm 66:16

We must pray and trust God to give President Bush and our
government the wisdom to act appropriately.
Please use each open door that God provides to witness about
the love of Christ and Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for everyone.
Jesus died for all of our sins, even for the people who caused this
tragedy to happen. They were hurting people and they wanted
to hurt someone else.

The greater tragedy is when people do not think that
God worth knowing enough to read His word and learn how
He promises to provide for all nations who seek him...

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

Psalm 33:12

The Bible is a book of instructions on how God thinks, feels,
and what he hates. He hates evil, but evil can only be overcome
by spreading goodness of God into the hearts of others.

Psalm 53:1 says...
The fool has said in his heart "There is no God."

Scripture tells story after story of what happened to
nations who sought their own ways and left God out of their lives.
God would warn and warn them, as in the days of Noah.
Noah warned the people about the flood for 120 years and
no one listened, but the people in his own family.

Let us not be the kind of people who only turn to God
when people die. God is a kind and merciful Father,
and wants his children to be protected and safe from harm.
He wants us to give Glory to Him for our victories and successes.
He wants to be in our schools to protect our children. He wants
the leaders of the world to seek Him for wisdom and counsel.
It gives him joy when the people of the earth unite in prayer
and humble themselves before him.

You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, shall revive me again,
and bring me up again from the depths of the earth. You shall increase my
greatness and comfort me on every side.
Psalm 71:20-21

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch
out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will
save me.
Psalm 138:7

Let us go out today in the strength of the LORD.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence comes my help?
My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 121:1-2

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret, it only causes harm. For
evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the LORD, they shall
inherit the earth. For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more.

Psalm 37:8-10

Our Father in Heaven,

Thank you for sustaining us through the trials and pain
in America's tragedy. We are thankful that You will
never leave us or forsake us. We ask You to help
us and deliver us from the wicked. Save us for we trust
in You and You alone. Thank you for the loving support
and prayers from our brothers and sisters in other
countries who have encouraged us.

Remember LORD, your tender mercies, and blot out
our transgressions. Save us for Your name's sake.

Bring comfort and peace to the families who have lost loved ones.
Send them loving brothers and sisters to share your message
of hope in their time of distress and mourning.

Please bring healing to all who are injured and in pain.
Thank you for hearing our cries and prayers. We ask you to
give wisdom to our President and all who are in authority to
know how to react to this tragedy. Help them to know that this
is a greater problem than any man can solve on their own.
Help them to humbly lead us in prayers to You.
Fill them with the knowledge of Your will.

Let your mercy be upon the evil people who have done this,
for they need Your message of hope and salvation.
Let them be found, so that they can have no
opportunity to hurt again. Help them to have a repentant heart for they
need your mercy and forgiveness. Help us to remember that we all
have sinned, so we cannot judge another...we all need your mercy
for our sins. Open our eyes to see any opportunities to
witness and spread the light of Your love into the hearts of others.

Calm our fears, quiet our hearts, and help us to reflect on Your word
and prayer for our world. Restore peace and unity to Your family of God.

LORD, in Your mercy, hear our prayers...

In Jesus' name we pray.

Amen

God IS In Control !

"Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their cry;

the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.

The LORD is close to the broken-hearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;

The LORD redeems his servants;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him."

(Excerpts Psalms 34:11-35 NIV)
