Strength Without Vengeance
Devotional Example
[ Back ] [ Up ] [ Next ]
"Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are fearful hearted,
Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come
with vengeance, With the recompense of God.
He will come and save you"
Isaiah 35:3-4
We live in the woods and it is very interesting to watch the animals
and learn from them. They seem to have a built in radar of
knowing how to help each other, without making a sound.
A couple of weeks ago, our mom and dad raccoon, we call Rocky and
Rhonda, brought us 7 new little babies to watch grow up.
They are always running and climbing like little children,
and getting into mischief. It is amazing to me how
they communicate not only among themselves, but with the
other animals as well.
We have many deer that visit each day, and 2 of them,
my husband fondly calls Trouble and Double Trouble.
They love to eat the leaves of the young oak trees. Often we
see them standing on just their hind legs to reach the branches
of the new shoots, which they enjoy the best.
The other day the baby raccoons must have decided
that it was foolish for the deer to struggle so,
to reach the branches. Four of the babies climbed
on a young oak tree, with a limb that is not too sturdy yet.
As they climbed, the tree began to bend and bend. When it
was closer to the ground, the 4 brave ones, reached down
to the 3 that were a little more fearful and pulled them on to
the tree with their paws.
We couldn’t figure out what they were doing at first,
but with their joint efforts and their joint
weight, the tree bent close to the ground. Trouble and
Double Trouble were cautious, but approached and were
able to eat off of the tree without struggling.
God reminded me of the scriptures in
Isaiah 41:6-7
"Everyone helped his neighbour, and said to his brother,
Be of good courage!" So the craftsman encouraged the goldsmith;
He who smoothes with the hammer inspired him who strikes the
anvil, saying, "It is ready for the soldering";
Then he fastened it with pegs,
That it might not totter.
We each have seasons in our life, when we are struggling
Our emotions totter from doubt to faith.
We don’t want to worry or be fearful, but we are.
We need someone to take our hand and say
Let me help you
I’ve been afraid too give me your hand
and I’ll take you to my Father who can help you.
God has joined us all as brothers and sisters in Christ,
to learn, to share, to grow up in faith,
to pray with and for each other. To prepare for
when we all are united with Jesus in heaven.
We must unite to share our strengths and weakness,
our failures and successes and trust in God to
anoint our efforts, to bear fruit for the kingdom.
So no one has to feel that they are alone.
There are days or weeks when we may feel that
God has abandoned us, but he hasn’t
"I have chosen you and have not cast you away;
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with
My righteous hand."
Isaiah 41:9-10
